Making “Rockwood” a Better Place.....

Author: Ved Parkash
President, Rockwood Homeowners' Association

The objectives of Rockwood Homeowners’ Association (RHA) are to make “Rockwood” a better place to live. Monthly meetings are held to identify the specific issues important to our community which generates positive action from and for our residents.

We encourage everyone to use this quarterly newsletter and our website to inform residents of any current events of interest.

We strongly opposed the proposal by the developer to add more buildings at 1315 Bough Beeches Boulevard. The status of this development is covered elsewhere in this newsletter.

RHA approached the city of Mississauga 4 years ago for clearing of snow windrows at the bottom of driveways as these are very difficult to clear; especially for seniors and women. The city was supportive, however, the program was not implemented because of the cost. This year, the city implemented the program on a small scale for seniors. Hopefully, this program will be available for everyone in the future at no cost as it is in the city of Vaughan. RHA is member of MIRANET (Mississauga Residents’ Association Network). MIRANET’s objectives are to work collectively in a positive and constructive manner with the city and other levels of government to promote the interests of Mississauga residents and contribute to the city’s success. At the MIRANET’s Annual General Meeting, Mayor McCallion commended MIRANET on its success in such a short time.

The City of Mississauga has developed the strategic plan, which is our vision for the future. The vision statement is supported by five Strategic Pillars for Change - developing a transit-oriented city; ensuring youth, older adults and new immigrants thrive; completing our neighborhoods; cultivating creative and innovative businesses and living green.

Send in your concerns and help achieve our accomplishments by working with us. Our monthly Executive Board meetings are held at Burnhamthorpe Community Centre and everyone is more than welcome!
