Big changes are coming to Forest Park, and not
for the better!

On May 1st, the Committee of Adjustments (CoA) approved a
variance for a towering 25-storey rental building to be constructed just feet
from the road, squeezed between the existing Forest Park Apartments. This
decision paves the way for even more high-rise developments, and plans are
already in motion for three more towers between 20 and 25-storeys high.
This is not just another building. It’s the beginning of a
major transformation that threatens the quiet, suburban character of our
community. These large urban-style towers do not fit the scale or spirit of Rockwood
Village. If we do don’t act now, our
neighborhood could soon be overshadowed, both literally and figuratively by
dense, high-rise development.
At the May Board Meeting, the RRA voted to form a dedicated
committee to organize a strong, united response. We expect a formal development
application soon, and due to new “fast-track” regulations, a decision could
follow quickly after a single public meeting. We must be ready in advance—and
we need your help.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
Join the Committee – Whether you have experience in planning, development, or just a passion for protecting our neighborhood, we need your voice.
Help Spread the Word – Talk to neighbors, share updates, and keep others informed.
Assist with Advocacy – Help organize petitions, write letters, and rally support ahead of the public meeting
The developer hopes to begin construction as early as
November 2025, but together, we can perhaps delay or reshape this plan to
better reflect the values of our community. Your participation is crucial. This
is our neighbourhood, and we all have a stake in its future.
Let’s stand together to preserve the Rockwood Village we
know and love. If you’re ready to get involved, by joining our committee,
