The Night Flight Budget for 2013 has been increased to 14324 movements, an increase of 3.7% from 2012. A movement is considered to be an arrival or a departure. This should have minimal effect on Rockwood. A 3-year history of night flight runway usage shows that the
GTAA uses the preferential runways over 90% of the time and uses the 33L/15R runway less than 1% of the time. 33L/15R usage is mostly for weather related/safety issues and is uncontrollable by any of us. The preferred night flight runways for departures are 23, 33R and 24R and for arrivals 05, 15L and 06L.
The Early Turn Trial (ongoing since March of 2008) on the north/south runways continues. This trial covers from early turns from 6:30 a.m. to 6:59 a.m. and 11:01 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. No information is available as to how long the trial will continue or what the criteria will be to have the procedure being made permanent.
