Hello everyone!

This year’s AGM was well attended at our new location at Sts. Martha and Mary Church in the Knights of Columbus Hall. A big thanks to our volunteer Directors who helped organize the evening. I welcome the new Board of Directors who have been elected to serve another term for the RHA. These volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization.

With summer ended we head back into routines of work/school but this fall, we start right into community events. Read about the latest Public Meeting hosted by Councillor Fonseca on the revised development proposal by Forest Park Circle Inc.

Our neighbours, Peel Regional Police, 12 Division held their first Open House in September, hosting a community fun day. Residents enjoyed a free BBQ and viewed displays of the Explosives Disposal Unit, Tactical Unit, Marine Unit and the Prisoner Escort Bus. A highlight was a tour of the holding cells where residents could have their pictures taken behind bars! Definitely an incentive to stay out of trouble!

Early September, RHA held a tree planting event at Shaver Trail, in conjunction with Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and City of Mississauga. Despite the incessant rain, volunteers were all smiles as they worked hard to plant in as many shrubs as possible. Kudos to those who came out and got the job done. We’ll be planning tree planting events throughout the year and if you’re interested in attending or have an idea for a green community event, please send us an email. You may also find out more about the Burnhamthorpe Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Plan (SNAP) on their website linked here.

RHA has embraced social media and you’ll find how to connect with us via Facebook and Twitter. If you have news that you would like to share with your community, send it to us via email or our social media pages. We’re always looking for pictures and articles to include in our pages and on our new website www.rockwoodvillage.ca.
