Through an extensive review process, roadways are identified to receive physical traffic calming measures. Fieldgate Drive between Bough Beeches Road and Ponytrail Drive, and Bough Beeches Road between Fieldgate Drive and Claypine Rise have been selected as locations which would benefit from the installation of traffic calming measures.
What is Traffic Calming? Traffic calming consists of physical measures (speed humps, speed cushions) put in place on roads for the intention of reducing the speed and volume of traffic to acceptable levels and restore the roadway to its intended function. Benefits can include increased traffic safety and liveability of the neighbourhood through the reduction of vehicular traffic, excessive speeding, noise, air pollution and collisions, while providing a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
At this time, staff would like to invite you to a Public Information Centre (PIC). The PIC will provide background information on Traffic Calming including proposed traffic calming measures for Fieldgate Drive and Bough Beeches Boulevard. Representatives from the City will be present to answer questions and discuss the details of the proposed plan and installation.
