Since our last newsletter, Council and the Mayor sped up the budget process and decided to pass the City’s 2013 Budget in mid December 2012, just two weeks after it was presented to the public at Budget Committee in November, despite MIRANET’s deputation asking them to hold off until early 2013, giving citizens enough time to digest the slew of incoming levies and tax increases. Value for money governance is always welcome but bulldozing it past taxpayers is not a way to engage citizens. For the complete text of the Deputation, click here.

RHA is in touch with PDOC (Ponytrail Development Opposition Committee) and in an update to the Forest Park Circle development proposal, the developer has submitted revisions to the initial plans. These
revisions are not complete and city staff is still awaiting further materials. The following is a brief summary of changes:
• Continue to maintain the 2 existing apartment buildings;
• Construct a new 10 story apartment building containing 114 units – previously 16 stories and 156 units;
• Construct 4 new 4 story apartment buildings with 42, 40, 52 and 40 units (174 units) – previously 152 low rise apartment units in 4 buildings and 105 stacked townhouse units (have eliminated all townhouses from the proposal);
• Total new units 290 – previously 413 units
• Total FSI of 1.69 - previously proposed 2.0
