Welcome!

Spring has sprung and that means summer’s on its way! It’s great to see Rockwood residents out biking, walking, jogging, gardening and enjoying the outdoors.

If you look around, you’ll see that Rockwood has some of the larger green spaces in Mississauga. On the environment watch, Rockwood has been selected as the next SNAP (Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Plan). In March, RHA attended the information session as one of the stakeholders. Find out how you can get involved in this project.

On the MIRANET watch, there’s an incredible selection of citizen engagement meetings around the city. Topics such as cell phone towers, crematoriums, transportation funding and the City’s draft Tree Protection By-law lead the discussions. Closer to home, RHA was part of the delegation from MIRANET manning the booth at Councillor Fonseca’s Town Hall, Residential West. For more information on public meetings, visit the MIRANET website at www.miranet.ca.

RHA will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, May 17. All residents are invited to attend. Come out and meet Councillor Chris Fonseca. Get updates on the ongoing progress of the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) being built in Rockwood. Find out what’s happening about the vacant lands at Audubon Blvd. and Fieldgate Dr. that are now rezoned for low density-residential. City of Mississauga staff will be available to answer your questions. Also in attendance will be Robyn Connelly, GTAA Manager of Community Engagement. Bring your questions and comments!

RHA would like to give a big thanks to our members who support us. We are now accepting membership fees of $10 for the 2012-2013 year. Your membership fees help defray the cost of maintaining the website, newsletter production and, participate in local citizens’ councils.

Thanks to our Board and our resident volunteers who distributed the newsletter. We are ever grateful to all the volunteers who give their time and energy in making this community a great place to live.

We welcome your input and want to hear your ideas! Send your submissions to rha.executive@gmail.com See you all at the AGM!
